What does Mentur check in APA references?
Mentur can find issues with alphabetical order, hanging indents, spacing, authors, dates, italics, punctuation, and written DOI and URL format.
It also looks for possible mismatches between in-text citations and the reference list when both are present.
Can I upload a file that only contains references?
Yes. Mentur recognizes files made up entirely or mainly of references and adapts the report message.
The file must be a .docx with at least 100 words and no larger than 40 MB.
Does Mentur analyze only the references?
No. Mentur always runs the complete document analysis so important findings are not missed.

Does Mentur verify that a DOI or URL exists?
Mentur checks how the DOI or URL is written and formatted inside the reference.
It should not currently be treated as an existence check against external databases.
