How to cite a webpage in APA 7

This guide explains how to create the APA reference and in-text citations for a webpage that does not fit a more specific category. Before using this format, check whether you consulted a journal article, news story, report, video, or social post.
When you only mention an entire website, naming it and giving its URL in the text is normally sufficient. Create a reference when you use a specific page.
Basic structure
Author or Organization. (Year, Month Day). Title of webpage. Website Name. URL
Use the most specific date shown on the page. Write n.d. when no date is available. When the author and website are the same organization, omit the website name to avoid repetition.

Pages with no date and changing content
Do not use a general website footer copyright year as the page date. When the content has no identifiable date, use n.d. in both the reference and citation.
Add a retrieval date only when the page is designed to change and no archived version exists. A stable page with a publication date does not need one.
When you cite several pages from one website, create a separate reference for each page.

How to check the reference
- You confirmed that no more specific category applies.
- You identified the page's individual or group author.
- You used the content date rather than the website footer year.
- You omitted the site name when it repeats the author.
- You included a direct URL without a final period.
- The citation uses the same author and year as the reference.
